
What led you to start the process of using exoskeletons?
The aim is above all to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal disorders. There is a very strong involvement of Airbus in the search for new solutions for the health, safety and well-being of employees. It should be understood that before arriving at the installation of exoskeletons, we do a lot of work concerning workstation arrangements ; there are ergonomists in all factories and doctors are present on site. Unfortunately, sometimes that's not enough. Other solutions must be found and exoskeletons are among the new innovative solutions that can have a real impact on the health and well-being of the employee.
What made you interested in the Japet.W exoskeleton?
As in all businesses, we encounter problems concerning back pain and the Japet exoskeleton.W Is currently The only credible product that exists. The fact that there is a medical and scientific validation in the product development process is something that really brings credibility. At Airbus, we do our best to avoid the arrival of pathologies but back problems are common and the Japet.W exoskeleton is a solution that can be proposed for these employees.
How would you describe the Japet.W exoskeleton?
Unlike many other exoskeletons, Japet.W is a preventive and curative product. It is also One of the only ones to be active, the fact of preserve muscular activity is important for maintaining activity and for the health of the employee. I see the Japetus exoskeleton.W as a product with which I tell myself: with this device, I will no longer have back pain.
What are the next steps?
The objective is to test the device on a group site, of course, this test will be accompanied and supervised by specialists, then if the feedback is positive, we will enter into a larger scale approach on the other Airbus sites. The idea is to offer the device to all Airbus sites, so that they can be integrated into our global approach to the search for solutions for the well-being of employees.
